NTA hasn't released the official JEE Main 2027 information bulletin yet – that typically arrives in October or November, just ahead of Session 1 registration. Until it does, here's the registration process explained step by step, along with the expected timeline based on how recent years have played out. How to Register: Step by Step
- 1. Create your account: Register on the official portal with your basic details, mobile number, and email, which becomes your login for both sessions.
- 2. Fill the application form: Enter personal, academic, and category details accurately – including your Class 12 board, year of passing, and state of eligibility, since this last detail determines your home-state quota later. See our home state quota guide for why this matters.
- 3. Upload documents: Photograph, signature, and other required documents in the specified format. Check our documents required checklist before you start, so nothing holds up the form midway.
- 4. Choose your exam cities: You'll typically be able to pick a few preferred exam city options; NTA allots your final centre based on availability.
- 5. Pay the application fee: Fee amounts vary by category, gender, and number of papers/sessions selected, and are specified fresh in each year's bulletin – always confirm the current amount before paying rather than assuming it matches a previous year.
- 6. Download your confirmation page: Keep a copy for your records once submission is complete.
Eligibility Recap
- No upper age limit for JEE Main.
- You must have passed, or be appearing for, Class 12 (or equivalent) in the exam year or either of the two years before it.
- Both fresh candidates and repeaters improving a previous score can register, subject to the passing-year window above.
A Few Practical Tips
- Register as soon as the window opens rather than waiting until the last few days – server load spikes sharply near deadlines, and corrections windows are typically short.
- Double-check every entry before final submission – category, board, and state of eligibility especially, since correction windows for these are limited and time-bound.
- If you're appearing in both sessions, note that certain details (like category or board) may not be editable between sessions – get them right the first time.
